Salah Postures


Niyyat*

Posture 1

Recitation :

I pray two rakah of Fajar ( or as many required for that time [Fajar,Duhr,Asar,Maghrib,Isha] ) Farz ( if its Farz or say Sunnat if its Sunnat or say Wajib if its Wajib or Say Nafil if its Nafil ) for Allah Tala Face towards Kabah. If praying behind Imam add "Behind this Imam".

Then Recite:

ALLAH-O-AKBAR

Instructions:

Bring hands, palms open, up to ears, and place thumbs behind earlobes, as "Allaho Akbar" (God is Great) is uttered.

Al-Qayam*

Posture 2

Recitation:

SUBHANA KALLA HUMMA WA BI HAMDI KA WAT TABARA KASMOOKA WA TA-AALA JADDU KA WA LAA-I-LAAHA GHAIROOK

A’uzu billahi minash Shayta-nir-rajeem

'Al-Hamdu lillaahi Rabbil-'Alameen. Ar-Rahman, Ir-Rahim. Maaliki Yawmid-Deen. 'Iyyaaka na'budu wa 'iyyaaka nasta'een. 'Ihdinas-Siratal-Mustaqeem. Siraatal-ladheena 'an-'amta 'alayheem Ghayril maghdhubi alayheem wa lad-dhaaaleen. Ameen.

You can recite any suitable Surahs after the Surah al-Fatiha

Ruku*

Posture 3

Recitation:

ALLAH-O-AKBAR

Then Recite 3 Times

Subhana Rabbi'al Azeem

Instructions:

Bend down at waist, placing palms of hands with fingers spread over knees. Back is parallel to ground, such that if a glass of water were on the back, it would not spill. Eyes looking down, directly ahead.

Al-Qayam*

Posture 4

Recitation:

After holding for at least six seconds recite

SAMI' ALLAHU LIMAN HAMIDAH

Rabbana walakal-Hamd

Instructions:

While rising from the bending position of Ruku', recite "Sami-Allaho liman hamidah, Rabana wa lakal hamd (Translation: Allah hears the one who praises Him; Our Lord, Yours is the praise.) Then return to standing position, arms at side.

Sajda*

Posture 5

Recitation:

ALLAH-O-AKBAR

Then Recite 3 Times

Subhana Rabbi Al Ala

Instructions:

Go down to a kneeling position by placing both hands on knees, lowering oneself slowly and easily onto knees, then touch the head upon the ground so that the following seven body parts are in contact: forehead, two palms, two knees, toes of both feet. The end position of this posture is given below.

Jalsa*

Posture 6

Recitation:

ALLAH-O-AKBAR

Instructions:

Now sit down on your left foot (It's called Jalsa) the right foot should be sticking out and all of the foot fingers should be twisted. The soft part of the foot fingers should touch the ground. Sit for the amount of time you could say Subhan Allah at least three times.

Second Sajda*

Posture 7

Recitation:

ALLAH-O-AKBAR

Then Recite 3 Times

Subhana Rabbi Al Ala

Instructions:

Go down to a kneeling position by placing both hands on knees, lowering oneself slowly and easily onto knees, then touch the head upon the ground so that the following seven body parts are in contact: forehead, two palms, two knees, toes of both feet. It is obligatory to stand up for the second rak^ah . It is recommended while doing so to say ALLAH-O-AKBAR then repeat Posture 2 to 7. This ends your second rak^ah.

Quood*

Posture 8

Recitation:

At-tahiyyatu Lillahi was-Salawatu wat-Tayyibutu As-salaamu 'alayka ayyuhan-Nabbiyyu Wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Was-salamu 'alayna wa 'ala 'ibadillahis-Saliheen As-shadu an la ilaha il Allah Wa as-shadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa Rassoulu.

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammadin wa 'ala ali Muhammadin Kama Sallayta 'ala Ibrahima wa 'ala ali Ibrahima Innaka Hamidun majid. Allahumma barik 'ala Muhammadin wa 'ala ali Muhammadin Kama Barkata 'ala Ibrahima wa 'ala ali Ibrahima Innaka Hamidun Majid.

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil 'akhirati hasanatan waqina 'adhaban-nar.

Instructions:

The method of sitting in Quood shall be the same as mentioned in connection with the method of sitting between Sajdahs.When you reach salaat while reciting the 'At-tahiyaat' raise the shahadah finger (the fore-finger or the index finger) with a pointing motion and let it fall back at fingerThe method of making a pointing motion is that you make a circle by joining your middle finger and the thumb, close the little finger and the ringfinger (the one next to it), then raise the shahadah finger in a way that it is tapered towards the Qiblah. It should not be raised up straight in the direction of the sky.However, lower the shahadah finger while saying finger but retain, right through the end, the initial formation of the rest of the fingers you already had when making the pointing motion. After finishing above recitation, the head is hung low, then turned slowly to full extension to the right, so that the eyes can glance back over the shoulder, and one recites: As-salaam alaikum wa rahmatullahAnd turning the head then to the left, the phrase is repeated:As-salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah.
